Auditing Self Managed Super Funds from 1 July 2013

You may be aware that the Australian Government has made some significant changes to who can audit a self managed super fund with effect from 1 July 2013.

The Directors of Complete Business Strategies have been strong supporters of self managed super funds for many years providing establishment, administration, strategy and audit services. Both Peter Rule and Chris Burns are now registered with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) to audit self managed super funds going forward. This is a mandatory requirement to audit self managed super funds.

Clients of Complete Business Strategies and Active Financial Answers will not see any changes to our services. So far, ASIC has approved around 2,200 auditors around the country which is a significant decrease in the number of persons eligible to audit self managed super funds.

The SMSF auditor registration reform is part of the Australian Government's wider Stronger Super reforms and has been implemented to improve the integrity of the audit process and set minimum levels of competency standards for approved SMSF auditors.
